Everything you need to know about booking Films by Donnie Kane, a Southern California wedding videographer based in Ontario, CA.

How far in advance should we book?

I recommend booking 9 to 12 months before your wedding. I only take on a limited number of weddings each year and popular dates go fast. I'm now booking 2027 weddings and beyond, so check availability to see if your date is still open!

How do we lock in our date?

A signed contract and a retainer secure your date. The remaining balance is due 14 days before your wedding. The retainer is non-refundable, but if your plans change it can be transferred to a new date (as long as I'm available).

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes! I'm happy to set up a custom payment schedule that works for you. We'll go over it together on our call.

How many hours of coverage do we need?

My video packages start at 6 hours, which covers most of the big moments. Want the whole day? You can add extra hours to any package.

Do you bring a second shooter?

A second shooter is available as an add-on. It's great for bigger weddings or for capturing both getting-ready rooms at the same time.

Can we book photo and video together?

Absolutely. My all-inclusive photo + video packages pair me with a trusted photographer I work with all the time. You get one team that already knows how to work together, so there's no stepping on each other's toes and your day feels seamless.

Will you capture our vows and speeches clearly?

Audio is a huge part of your film. I use wireless lav mics on the groom, officiant, and bride when the dress allows for it, separate backup audio recorders and on-camera mics, so your vows and speeches come through crystal clear.

Do you offer drone footage?

Yes, drone footage is available as an add-on wherever your venue allows it.

What's your filming style?

Mostly candid with a little light direction. I'm there to capture the real moments as they happen: the laughter, the happy tears, and everything in between. During portraits I'll give you easy prompts so you never feel awkward in front of the camera.

What do we receive, and when?

Every package includes a custom cinematic highlight film, and some packages include more, like full-length ceremony and speech edits. Your highlight film is typically delivered within 6 to 8 weeks. Depending on your package, your films are delivered by download link over email or in a custom online video gallery.

Can we choose the music for our film?

Yes, any song you want! Send me your favorites and I'll build your film around them. (Sometimes there may be copyright l

Can we request changes to our film?

Every film includes one round of revisions, so you can tell me about any tweaks you'd like.

How long do you keep our footage?

I keep a backup of your footage for 6 months after delivery, so be sure to download and save your films as soon as you get them!

Do you travel?

I'm based in Orange County, CA, and travel is included within 50 miles. A small mileage fee applies beyond that. I film all over Southern California, including Los Angeles, Orange County, Temecula, San Diego and the Inland Empire, and I'm always up for an adventure, including destination weddings anywhere in the world.

Do you film elopements, micro-weddings, proposals or engagement sessions?

Yes to all of them! Whether it's just the two of you on a cliff in Malibu or a surprise proposal, I'd love to be there.

What happens between booking and the wedding day?

We'll hop on a planning call closer to the date. I'll help you build a timeline that gets the best footage, and I'll coordinate with your photographer and planner so everyone's on the same page.

Are you insured? What if something goes wrong with your gear?

I carry liability insurance and can provide a certificate of insurance (COI) if your venue needs one. I also bring backup cameras and audio gear to every wedding, so nothing gets missed.
